Week of 11/16/20:

Note: our classroom now meets in the Auditorium!  We will also have PRT A off when our class meets on Days 3 and 6 this week. 

Please bring earbuds to class every day. I am under quarantine until I receive my covid test results. Hopefully, I will be back by Wednesday.

Mon.11/16 (day 3 ) :   1. Finish the Lipids page of the Organic Molecules Graphic Organizer.  *We will now skip nucleic acids and return to them next semester when we discuss DNA.  2. Discuss Chemical Reactions and Proteins. There is a new notes sheet titled “NOTES Proteins/Enzymes Unit 4A”.    HW : Assignment 7 Pectinase Enzyme Demonstration due Wednesday.

Tues. 11/17 (day 4):  no Biology class today

Wed. 11/18 (day 5 ) :   1. Discuss Enzymes using the powerpoint slides 1-9 and 13-15 (we will skip slides 10-12 and 16-17) 2. Then Begin the Virtual Enzyme Lab. We will continue it tomorrow.  HW: Complete Part 1 of the Enzyme Lab before tomorrow.  

Thurs. 11/19 (day 6):    Work on the Enzyme Virtual Lab  HW: quiz Thurs 12/3.

Fri. 11/20 (day 7): No Biology class today.

coming up next week:  Quiz over water, organic moleculescarbohydrates, lipids, and protein/enzymes will be Thurs 12/3. We will review on Monday 11/30 (note, we will only meet 2 days per week until the end of the semester).

Week of 11/9/20:

Note: our classroom will change to the Auditorium! Friday’s class will be our first day in the Auditorium. We will also have PRT A off when our class meets on Days 3 and 6.  *Please also note, that all my other PRTs off are B. It will, unfortunately, be more difficult to schedule extra help. Know that I am always available before school. I will be working on my new schedule ASAP and put the document on Google Classroom.

Mon.11/9 (day 6  Maroon) :   1. Warm up- Water and Hydrogen Bonds + Water Properties, slides #3 and 4  Discuss Carbon and Organic Molecules.  Begin talking about Carbohydrates. Do the Carbohydrates Digital Activity google slides.   HW : Vocabulary for Unit 4 due Friday.

Tues. 11/10 (day 7, Gold/Silver):  no Biology class today

Wed. 11/11 (day 8, Maroon ) :    1.  WU – Monomer & Polymer, slide #5   2.  Finish discussing carbohydrates and begin discussion over lipids – do the Digital Activity on google slides.  Complete the Carbohydrate section of the Organic Molecules Graphic Organizer packet in class before we move on to lipids.  HW: Vocabulary for Unit 4 due Friday.  We will likely have a quiz next Wednesday or Thursday once we finish this unit (only nucleic acids are left to discuss).  

Thurs. 11/12 (day 1, Maroon): No Biology class today.   REMEMBER, we meet in the Auditorium starting tomorrow!!!

Fri. 11/13 (day 2, Gold/Silver):  1.  WU – Carbohydrates and Lipids on slides #6 and 7   2.EdPuzzle of Biomolecules   HW: none

Week of 11/2/20:

Mon.11/2 (day 2  Maroon) :   pH and ocean acidification  Maroon – do the pH lab.  Gold/silver – take notes over the powerpoint about pH     HW : Quiz over unit 3 Friday

Tues. 11/3:  Asynchronous day – Maroon cohort – take notes over the powerpoint about pH  Gold/Silver(quarantined) – study for your quiz. Click on the quiz assignment on Classroom to see video links to topics you may need extra help with.  There is “matrix puzzle” you can complete to review vocabulary. Print it out, cut out the squares, then try to put it back together. 

Wed. 11/4 (day 3 Gold/Silver) :  Gold group will complete the pH lab.     Maroon group – study for Friday’s quiz: Click on the quiz assignment on Classroom to see video links to topics you may need extra help with.  There is “matrix puzzle” you can complete to review vocabulary. Print it out, cut out the squares, then try to put it back together. 

Thurs. 11/5 (day 4, Maroon): No Biology class today.   HW:  Quiz over Unit 3 tomorrow

Fri. 11/6 (day 5, Gold/Silver):  Quiz Unit 3 Ecology; then begin Unit 4 by discussing water molecule structure – Use the new Notes for Unit 4 and the Water powerpoint. We will go through water structure, hydrogen bonds and water properties. We won’t do the powerpoint titled “Water’s Molecular Properties” since we will use the manipulative models in class today. The Maroon group will get to interact with the models on Monday.

Mon. 9/28 : No school today. Quiz Thursday.  Note: this week is Spirit week. All classes are still 60 minutes, but the times are different. There is no afternoon PRT.

Tues. 9/29 (day 6 Maroon): 1. WU – Isolating Mechanisms, slide #10 and Patterns of Evolution, slide #13 2. Cladograms – show quick powerpoint as we do the worksheet activity HW Finish your cladogram worksheet for Thursday. 

Wed. 9/30 ( day 7 Gold/Silver): no Biology class today. Study for tomorrow’s quiz! It is important to study even for an open-note quiz since there is limited time.

Thurs. 10/1 (day 8, Maroon):  1.  Quiz – Evidence for Evolution and Mechanisms for Evolution.  2. Taxonomy   HW:  none

 Fri. 10/2 (day 1, Gold/Silver):  No Biology class today.

Tues. 9/22 (day 2 Maroon): 1. Quiz – Darwin and Natural Selection. 2. WU – Evidence for Evolution slide #5  3. Finish discussion the Evidence for Evolution focusing on Molecular Evidence   * Maroons will pick up Timeline lab long paper  HW EdPuzzle  from Friday is due tomorrow. Make sure you check off that you completed it on GClassroom even though it is technically turned in on EdPuzzle  

Wed. 9/23 ( day 3 Gold/Silver): 1. WU – Body Structures slide #6 and Molecular Evidence slide #7.   2. Begin discussing Mechanisms for Evolution .  HW:  fine tune your notes with highlighting, examples, and images that will help you remember

Wed. 9/16 ( day 6 Gold/Silver): 1. WU – Theories of Evolution.2. Begin discussing Evidence for Evolution powerpoint slides (1-11) and notes sheet 3. Time to work on your Rock Pocket Mice assignment if we have class time left HW: Rock Pocket Mice activity due Friday

 Fri. 9/18 (day 8, Gold/Silver):   1.  WU – slides #8 and #9 about Mechanisms of Evolution 2. Work on the notes sheet for Evidence for Evolution on slides #12-36 from the powerpoint with the same title that we started on Wednesday.  HW:  Quiz over Darwin and Natural Selection Tuesday. EdPuzzle video with embedded questions about Whale Evolution. I put instructions and class join code on GClassroom. Use your school email to log in.
